David Tabler, AAPS English Teacher Passes

Tabler, David 9/11/1936 – 12/26/2016 Ann Arbor David E. Tabler, of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away on December 26, 2016, at the University of Michigan Hospital, following a long battle with cancer.

He was surrounded in love by family members as he transcended to a state of peaceful rest. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Tabler, his children, Edwin Tabler and Debra Arecheja and his grandchildren, Nicholas Smith and Jacob Smith. David was a graduate of Kent State University and enjoyed a long and successful career as an English teacher at Ann Arbor’s Pioneer High School.

He was passionate about literature, writing and teaching and conveyed his love of the English Language Arts to his students, family and friends. After retirement, he worked as a cashier at Kroger, where he enjoyed interacting with his co-workers, customers and past acquaintances that passed through the store. He was an avid reader and collector of books and especially loved mysteries and historical texts. Above all else, David was a loving and dedicated husband and father who cherished his family. He is loved and will reside in our hearts forever.

A memorial celebration will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor on January 14, 2017 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Pastor Nancy Lynn will be officiating.
